It’s a brand new school . It’s a secondary school.  School Spellings have returned in a rather comprehensive way. Hooray!
I now have 72 groups of spellings to last me till the end of the school year.

FLOATED up the chimney & did this
LIGHTENING make him the
LIGHTEST Santa under fluorescent street
LIGHTING? My parents, who normally couldn’t be
PROUDER of me,
SPRINTED into my room, using their (4am)
SWEETEST sleepy voices they told me not to worry about sleigh
RUSTING and yes they’re sure reindeer are arranged that way to look
NEATER but what I really really need to do right now is to GO BACK TO SLEEEEEEEP!

 

This spelling list felt like it should be Xmassy. I felt I should be Xmassy too.

This spelling list also came with an explanation

when a word has a short vowel sound followed by two consonants, we do not change the root word to add a suffix (e.g. rest-resting)

when a word has a long vowel sound followed by one consonant, we do not change the root word to add a suffix (e.g. shout-shouted)

I found this one quite tricky. My knee is still bruised.
